Operator-led. Performance-driven. Built to deliver.
Nexus Bioenergy Group turns biological risk into investable infrastructure. We develop, build, commission and operate anaerobic digestion plants across the UK, delivering profit for asset owners.

Operational discipline from day one
Nexus Bioenergy Group is an operator-led developer built to turn biological risk into investable infrastructure.
The individuals behind Nexus bring deep personal track records. Each has operated, developed or turned around anaerobic digestion plants across the UK. Nexus is the vehicle through which this expertise is now offered as a fully integrated development and operations service.
Our mission is simple: embed operational discipline from day one, so every plant we touch reaches stable, compliant, commercially efficient performance, faster.
We act as full custodians: developers, operators and maintainers who deliver profit for the asset owner.

We are hands-on people. Between us we have stood on reception pads at 6am, nursed sick digesters back to health and signed off the monthly P&L. That is the experience we bring to every site.
Years combined AD experience
UK AD plants operated, improved or developed

OEE maximisation across availability, rate and quality.
- Feedstock and digestate revenue optimisation
- CAPEX prioritisation
- Transparent monthly reporting
- Performance incentives

Any feedstock. Any technology.
We are not tied to one plant type or one feedstock. Between us we have run and developed them all, so we match the technology to the site, not the other way round.
- Food waste AD
- Agricultural AD
- Hybrid feedstock plants
- Wet AD systems
- Dry AD systems

Deep UK AD market expertise
Regulation, permitting, grid and feedstock knowledge earned on live sites across the country.
Regulatory Frameworks
OFGEM biomethane grid injection and the Green Gas Certification Scheme, worked with daily, not read about.
Environmental Permitting
Environment Agency permitting under EPR, from application strategy through to compliant operation.
Quality Standards
PAS110, MCERTS, ABPR and digestate quality standards embedded in operating procedures.
Grid Connection
Cadent ICS, DAS processes and established GDN relationships to de-risk connection timelines.
Feedstock Markets
Food waste, agricultural, industrial and municipal feedstock sourcing and commercial structuring.
Gas Upgrading
Membrane, water scrubbing and PSA technologies specified, commissioned and operated.
Energy Routes
CHP, gas-to-grid and biomethane-to-transport: the right offtake route for each asset.
Founders who have covered every stage of AD
As a team, the founders have been involved in all aspects of anaerobic digestion, from design and engineering through construction, commissioning and day-to-day operation.

Lee Knights, CMgr FCMI
Managing Director, BGE
Senior AD operator and developer with experience spanning site development, operational turnarounds and P&L management. Delivered step-change performance improvements at Refood Dagenham, lifting availability from 61% to 95%, and at Thalia, raising output from 13MW to 20MW. Brings structured, performance-led leadership that drives OEE and profitability across multi-site portfolios.

Roger Hammett
MD, Scandinavian Bioenergy Services
Process engineer and AD developer with a personal track record delivering multiple Biogest-built plants from concept through to commissioning, including Acorn Horseclose. Experienced in full site development cycles: feasibility, HAZOP, process engineering, permitting, contractual frameworks and construction oversight. The technical bridge between engineering models and operational delivery.

Stuart Bennett TechMCIWM
Founder, TIFT Services | Development Manager
Actively working on UK development and operational readiness. Deep personal expertise in multi-site AD development: site identification, planning and permitting, waste and environmental regulation, feedstock commercial structures, and taking sites from concept through to compliant operation. Currently leading UK pipeline development with direct knowledge of project origination and approval processes.
Plants we know from the inside
